- harden, make hard. Harden; make hard. To cause something to become hard or unyielding, especially used metaphorically of hardening the heart (making stubborn or unwilling). Also used literally for releasing or sending out.
Example: No rĩrĩ, Jehova akĩũmia ngoro ya Firauni, na ndaigana kũreka mathiĩ. (But the L ord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was unwilling to let them go.); No rĩrĩ, Jehova akĩũmia ngoro ya Firauni, na ndaigana kũreka ciana cia Isiraeli ithiĩ. (Yet the L ord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go.)
