ũimbia
- leaven, cause to rise. Leaven, cause to rise. To add yeast or leavening agent to dough, causing fermentation and rising; used both literally for bread-making and metaphorically for spreading influence.
Example: 1 Kor 5.6. Ndawa ya kũimbia mũgate ĩtarĩ nyingĩ nĩĩtũmaga kĩmere gĩothe kĩimbe. (A little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough. 1 Cor 5:6.); Naguo mũthenya ũrĩa wa mĩgate ĩtarĩ mĩĩkĩre ndawa ya kũimbia ũgĩkinya, nĩguo ũrĩa wa gũthĩnjwo Bathaka. (When the day of the feast of Unleavened Bread arrived, the day for sacrificing the Passover lamb, Ex 12:6, 14–20.)
