1. stranger, foreigner. Stranger, foreigner. A person from outside one's family, clan, or community; someone who is not a relative or native member of the group, often distinguished from citizens or family members in contexts of hospitality, legal rights, or religious observance.

Example: No mũũki arĩ mũrũrĩrĩ, na ndungata ya mũcara, matikanamĩrĩe. (But no tenant or hired worker may eat of it.); Wee mũtumia ũyũ wĩ mũtharia! O wee wĩtaga mũrũrĩrĩ ithenya rĩa mũthuriguo! (Adulterous wife, taking strangers in place of her husband!)
