  1. Cushite, Ethiopian. Cushite. A person from Cush (Ethiopia); an Ethiopian. Used as both an ethnic designation and proper noun in biblical texts.

Example: Nao Miriamu na Haruni magĩtetera Musa, nĩ ũndũ wa mũka ũrĩa aahikĩtie Mũkushi; nĩ gũkorũo mũka ũcio aahikĩtie aarĩ Mũkushi. (Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses on the pretext of the Cushite woman he had married; for he had in fact married a Cushite woman. Cushite woman : apparently Zipporah, the Midianite, is meant; cf. Ex 2:21.); Hĩndĩ o ĩo Joabu agĩgĩcoka akĩĩra Mũkushi atĩrĩ, Thiĩ ũkahe mũthamaki ũhoro ũrĩa wona. Nake Mũkushi ũcio agĩkĩinamĩrĩra he Joabu, agĩteng’era.
