- leavened, fermented. Leavened, fermented. Describing bread or dough that has been mixed with yeast or leaven and allowed to rise; the opposite of unleavened bread.
Example: Ndũkanathenganĩrĩrie mũgate mũimbie na thakame ya igongona rĩakwa, o na kana ũreke maguta ma gĩathĩ gĩakwa matigare maraare makinyie rũcinĩ (You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened; Ex 34:25–26. nor shall the fat of my feast be kept overnight till the next day.); Mũthenya wa ikũmi na ĩna wa mweri ũcio wa mbere, o hwaĩ-inĩ-rĩ, mũrĩrĩaga mũgate ũtarĩ mũimbie, o nginya hwaĩ-inĩ wa mũthenya wa mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ na ũmwe. (From the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month until the evening of the twenty-first day of this month you will eat unleavened bread.)
