- anointing (oil). Anointing. Describes oil that has been consecrated or set apart for the sacred purpose of anointing people or objects in religious ceremonies, particularly for consecration.
Example: Ningi agĩitĩrĩria Haruni maguta marĩa maitanagĩrĩrio mũtwe, nĩguo amwamũre amũtherie. (He also poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him. Sir 45:15.); Nake Musa agĩkĩoya maguta marĩa maitanagĩrĩrio, agĩitĩrĩria gĩikaro, o na kĩrĩa gĩothe kĩarĩ kuo thĩinĩ, agĩgĩciamũra agĩcitheria. (is one of the means of making objects and persons holy by setting them apart for a special function or purpose. Taking the anointing oil, Moses anointed and consecrated the tabernacle and all that was in it. Ex 30:26.)
