1. rebellious, defiant. Rebellious, defiant. Characterized by resistance to authority or refusal to obey; stubbornly disobedient or insubordinate, particularly used to describe the house of Israel in prophetic texts.

Example: Nacio nĩikamenya atĩ hoima mũnabii thĩinĩ wacio, o na ingĩkũigua kana irege gũkũigua, nĩ ũndũ kĩruka kĩu nĩ kĩremu. (And whether they hear or resist—they are a rebellious house—they shall know that a prophet has been among them.
