- jubilee. Jubilee. A special year observed every fifty years in ancient Israelite law when debts were forgiven, slaves were freed, and ancestral lands were returned to original owners; a year of release and restoration.
Example: Mwaka ũcio wa jubili-rĩ, andũ othe mũndũ o mũndũ wanyu nĩacoke kwao kũrĩa aagwatire igai. (In this year of jubilee, then, each of you shall return to your own property.); Nĩ gũkorũo mwaka ũcio nĩguo wa jubili; na nĩũkonagwo wĩ mwamũre nĩ inyuĩ; irio cia maitĩka-rĩ, nocio mũkarĩaga. (since this is the jubilee. It shall be sacred for you. You may only eat what the field yields of itself.)
