- islands, coastlands. Islands, coastlands. Landmasses surrounded by water or distant coastal regions; used in biblical contexts to refer to remote lands or territories across the sea.
Example: Nĩmekĩrĩre Jehova na moimbũranĩre ithama-inĩ ũhoro wake makĩmũgoocaga. (Let them give glory to the L ord ,); Kũg 6.14. Nacio ithama ikĩũra ciothe o kũũra; irĩma nacio ikĩaga kũrĩa ciarĩ. (cf. Rev 8:7. Like huge weights : literally, “weighing a talent,” about one hundred pounds. Every island fled, and mountains disappeared.)
