- five. Five. Cardinal number used for counting; appears in various constructions such as 'mĩrongo ĩtaano' (fifty, lit. 'tens five') and 'mĩthenya ĩtaano' (five days).
Example: igana igana, mĩrongo ĩtaano ĩtaano, ikũmi ikũmi na o gĩkundi kĩarĩ na mũtongoria wakĩo. (After this Judas appointed officers for the people, over thousands, over hundreds, over fifties, and over tens.); Hĩndĩ ĩyo Jonathani na thigari ciake makĩnyiita ta andũ mĩrongo ĩtaano, arĩa maatongoreetie kũmũkunyanĩra na kwenda kũmũũraga, makĩmooraga. (In fact, Jonathan’s men seized about fifty of the men of the country who were leaders in the conspiracy and put them to death.)
