gĩtama
- curtain, veil. Curtain, veil. A hanging cloth partition used to divide or screen off sacred spaces, especially the temple veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the outer sanctuary.
Example: Ningĩ agĩcuuria gĩtama gĩa kweheheragio mũromo-inĩ wa gĩikaro. (He hung the curtain at the entrance of the tabernacle.); naguo ũtheri wa riũa ũgĩthira: nakĩo gĩtama kĩa hekarũ gĩgĩatũkana na gatagatĩ. (because of an eclipse of the sun. Then the veil of the temple was torn down the middle. Ex 26:31–33; 36:35.)
