- young, youthful. Young. Of tender age, youthful, or not yet fully mature; often used to refer to young people or youths in contrast to elders.
Example: Ingĩonania atĩ nĩkũrĩa ndĩraarĩa nyama icio nĩguo ndũũre muoyo, no thaahie na njonore ũkũrũ wakwa na hĩtithĩe andũ eethĩ aingĩ. (If I dissemble to gain a brief moment of life, they would be led astray by me, while I would bring defilement and dishonor on my old age.); Ciana ciao ikĩgirĩka, nao atumia na andũ eethĩ makaringĩkagĩra barabarainĩ na matoonyeroinĩ ma itũũra, na matiarĩ na hinya maatigarĩĩtie. (Their children were listless, and the women and youths were fainting from thirst and were collapsing in the streets and gateways of the city, with no strength left in them.)
